病理学杂志旨在作为基础生物医学科学和临床医学之间的转化桥梁,特别强调但不限于基于组织的研究。该杂志的主要兴趣在于发表研究,进一步了解人类疾病的病理生理学和发病机制。该杂志欢迎对人体组织的调查研究、体外和体内实验研究,以及基于与人类疾病明确相关的动物模型的研究,包括转基因系统。一般而言,与依赖于单一方法的研究相比,首选适当采用多种研究技术的假设驱动研究。除了原创研究论文外,《日刊》还力求以各种其他形式迅速发表,包括社论、评论文章、评论和观点以及其他特写,包括投稿和征求的。关于诊断病理学的纯粹描述性论文(包括病例报告和预后论文,没有机制和实验见解)不被认为是杂志宗旨的核心。与《日刊》上发表的论文有关的信件将被考虑,但只有在普遍感兴趣的情况下。编辑可自行决定仅以在线版本发布此类通信。在确定内容时,主要考虑的是卓越性、相关性和新奇性。作为病理学会的期刊,它力求反映学会成员的广泛科学兴趣,但其精神、作者、内容和目的是国际科学文献中领先出版物所期望的。
