该杂志发表和传播材料成型领域的原创研究。该研究应在材料成形过程的理解、建模或模拟方面取得重大成就。在这方面,“成形”意味着材料的有意变形。该杂志建立了工程师和科学家之间的交流平台,涵盖所有成形工艺,包括板材成形、块体成形、粉末成形、近熔融条件下的成形(注塑、触变性、薄膜吹塑等)、微成形、液压成形、热成形、渐进成形等。如果工作重点是塑性变形,则可以包括机加工和切削等其他制造技术。所有材料(金属、陶瓷、聚合物、复合材料、玻璃、木材、纤维增强材料、食品加工材料、生物材料、纳米材料、形状记忆合金等)和方法(微观-宏观建模、热-机械建模、数值模拟(包括新的和先进的数值策略)、实验分析、逆向分析、模型识别、优化、成形工具和机器的设计和控制、磨损和摩擦、材料的机械性能和可成形性等)都很担心。
