《国际数字地球杂志》是对这一倡议的回应。这本同行评审的学术期刊(SCI-E)专注于数字地球的理论、技术、应用和社会影响,以及那些将实现模型化虚拟世界的富有远见的概念。数字地球框架、政策和标准的进展愿景;探索以地理位置为参考的3D、4D或5D模型,以表示真实的的星球,以及地理数据密集型科学和发现;开发将各种形式的地理参考数据(从科学数据到社会数据)转化为可分析、可视化和共享的有用信息的方法;介绍数字地球技术在地方、国家、区域和全球各级的创新、实际应用和试点;扩大数字地球在地球科学领域的作用,包括气候变化、适应和健康相关问题、自然灾害、新能源、农业和粮食安全以及城市规划;促进使用基于网络的公共领域平台、社交网络和基于位置的服务,以共享关于虚拟地球的数字数据、模型和信息;和探讨社交媒体和公民提供的数据在空间科学和技术中生成地理参考信息的作用。
