自然灾害学致力于对自然灾害的各个方面、灾难性事件的预测、其风险管理以及自然和/或技术灾害的前兆性质进行原创性研究。尽管灾害的起源可能是不同的来源和系统(大气、水文、海洋、火山、地震、新构造),但环境影响同样是灾难性的。这种情况保证了不同科学和操作学科之间的紧密互动,这将增强危害的缓解。本期刊感兴趣的危害包括在以下章节中:一般、大气、气候、海洋、风暴潮、海啸、洪水、雪、雪崩、滑坡、侵蚀、地震、火山、人为、技术和风险评估。该杂志还讨论了这些灾害与社会之间的相互作用,包括风险治理、灾害应对和预防行动,如空间规划和补救措施。
