《核医学与生物学》出版了涉及放射性药物科学各个方面的原创研究:合成、体外和离体研究、通过解剖或成像进行的体内生物分布、放射性药物学、放射性药物学和新靶向放射性示踪剂的转化临床研究。目标对未满足的临床需求的重要性应是首要考虑因素。如果一种新的放射性药物的合成在没有体外或体内数据的情况下提交,那么必须强调化学的独特性。这些多学科研究应该验证定位机制,无论探针是基于与受体、酶、肿瘤抗原还是其他明确的靶点的结合。研究的目的应是评价化学和放射性药物特性如何影响药代动力学、药效学或治疗效果。理想情况下,该研究将解决探针对疾病或治疗变化的敏感性,尽管仅验证机制的研究是可接受的。放射性药物学实践,涉及制备、自动化、质量控制、分配和适用于人类放射性药物的资格和管理的法规问题,是开发过程的一个重要方面,但只有在研究对实地有重大影响的情况下才能这样做。对治疗性放射性药物主题的贡献也是适当的,前提是标记化合物定位的特异性和治疗性影响已经得到解决。
