该杂志的目的是提供一个论坛的论文有关的基本周边和中央听觉机制。重点是实验和临床研究,但理论和方法学论文也将考虑。该杂志发表原创研究论文、综述和小型综述文章、快速通信、方法/协议和前景文章。提交的论文应涉及动物和人类的听觉解剖学、生理学、心理物理学、成像、建模和行为研究,以及助听器和耳蜗植入物。有关前庭系统的论文也被考虑发表。有关听力比较方面的论文以及药物和环境污染物对听力功能的影响的论文也将被考虑。如果临床论文有助于理解正常和病理性听力功能,则将被接受。
