细胞和分子生物工程领域寻求理解细胞的机械、化学和电学过程,以便我们可以最终控制这些过程。改善人类健康的一个关键挑战是了解细胞行为是如何从分子水平的相互作用中产生的。CMBE是生物医学工程学会的官方期刊,发表以下七个领域的原创研究和综述论文:分子:DNA-蛋白质/RNA-蛋白质相互作用、蛋白质折叠和功能、蛋白质-蛋白质和受体-配体相互作用、脂质、多糖、分子马达以及例如作为治疗剂或工程基质的大分子的生物物理学。研究细胞如何感知细胞周围和内部的物理化学事件,以及细胞如何将这些事件转化为生物反应。感兴趣的特定细胞过程包括细胞生长、分化、迁移、信号转导、蛋白质分泌和转运、基因表达和调节以及细胞-基质相互作用。细胞和生物分子的机械特性、细胞/分子力的产生和粘附、细胞对其机械微环境的响应以及对各种物理力(如流体剪切应力)的机械转导。纳米医学:用于高级药物递送和分子成像应用的纳米颗粒的工程,特别关注这种颗粒与活细胞的相互作用。此外,纳米结构材料在控制细胞和生物分子行为方面的应用。
