从1960年出版的第一卷开始,《英国家禽科学》就一直是世界各地家禽科学家和家禽业顾问的领先国际期刊。超过60%的独立评审发表的论文来自英国以外。最典型的是,他们用实验方法报告生物学研究的结果,这些结果要么对基础科学做出了原创性贡献,要么对工业有明显的应用。所涵盖的主题包括:解剖学、胚胎学、生物化学、生物物理学、生理学、生殖和遗传学、行为学、微生物学、内分泌学、营养学、环境科学、食品科学、饲料和饲养、管理和住房福利、育种、孵化、禽肉和蛋产量和质量。还发表了采用建模方法或描述与该行业直接有关的新设备或仪器的科学背景的论文。该杂志还以快速出版短通信为特色。在WPSA英国分支春季会议上提交的论文摘要发表在《英国家禽文摘》上。
